The music is louder, I’m getting high, my eyes are closed…
Lately, I notice that I have become somewhat irritable, forgetful, sometimes I put an empty mug in the refrigerator, start talking and forget some words, I stand remembering, blaming everything on the coronavirus – these are the consequences of the cursed infection…
Undoubtedly. But the reason for all these phenomena lies not only in the consequences, but most likely in the fact that we are very busy. If earlier to the question: “How is life?” the answer was relevant: “Home – work – home”, then now it’s just: “Work!”, because it continues with us wherever we are. And a lot of information, sometimes absolutely unnecessary.
During the day, the brain processes incoming information and conversations for hours. We do not let him relax and recover, we overload him – our mood, memory, productivity and health suffer.
Therefore, mental rest is so necessary – periods when we do not concentrate and do not interact with the outside world, but let our thoughts wander in the clouds, just do not think about anything. And the phone at this time just lies in the bag and is silent because it is disconnected.
Saturday. Evening. House. Telephone. Which makes itself felt every now and then – they send work assignments … Holy shit, it’s like a day off! Naturally, you get annoyed, and this condition is transmitted to all the rest of the household.
– And let’s go for a walk! – the spouse suggests.
– And let’s go!
– Turn off your phone.
Late evening. We wander through the streets of the city.
– Why didn’t they mow the grass?
– Why? Let it grow, see how many flowers there are among this grass! They’re beautiful!
– These roads are not like driving, it is impossible to pass! One name that carried out a pit repair.
– Just lift your legs higher.
– Listen, maybe to a disco?
– You made me laugh, really! What kind of disco?! In sports tights and sneakers?
– Well, that’s fine! Who cares?
With these words, we headed to another area of our town. We will not specify the name of the night place, and there is no need for it.
An elderly woman was dancing cheerfully at the entrance: “200 rubles from you.” Having received the seal on her hand from her, they somehow moved on, uncertainly, to where the guards were standing. To be honest, there was some feeling of awkwardness: walking clothes, some unfamiliar place, and far from 18 for us – all these moments made us worry.
Meanwhile, the dance floor was going crazy with the modern rhythms of music, which literally deafened everyone around. There was no limit to dancing. Only those who were sitting at the tables remained in relative calm, but there were very few of them.
The audience turned out to be kind of homely. The feeling that everyone knows each other. And we met a lot of friends: teachers from school, a hairdresser from a beauty salon, and a coach of the Youth Sports School … everyone danced.
At first there was some discomfort, but every minute the body relaxed itself, surrendering to the beats of the music, and there were no thoughts in my head, just movements around and colorful lights.
To light up to “Drum & bass– and similar musical directions with “broken rhythms” when you are slightly over 40, and the year is 2023 – you can!
Dance allows you to physically express some emotion, even to work it out. For example, if we feel some kind of depression, emotional instability, then the dance will allow us to express this feeling, live it and free up space for more positive emotions. Here you can turn off everything and just relax. I’m sure that sometimes it’s useful to get out and disconnect like this, in a good sense of the word.
Now we devote less and less time to such relaxation, coming up with hundreds of excuses: wrong age, wrong clothes, no time, “come on later.” We treat ourselves like machines. Let’s remember the zombie-like state we fall into after a long working meeting or a crazy day spent in the hassle. We forget important things, make mistakes and end up doing less than we intended. The constant tense rhythm of life affects productivity, creativity and happiness.
– Oh, the dawn! – I exclaimed, going out into the street.
– Well, am I calling a taxi?
– No, let’s walk.
And we walked after the dance floor just in silence: neither the mown grass nor the pits on the roads worried us, and everything was so quiet, the stars began to hide behind each other in the sky – someone up there quietly turned off the night lights…
