  1. My take on this song is that the 'bad habits' Ed is referring to are his talents for creating overproduced pop records. As he says in the lyrics, they create the illusion of endless possibilities at the beginning of a night but end in anticlimactic 5am antics. I particularly think that the line 'its true, nothing happens after two', refers to the difficulty in remaining creative and fresh after your second album, having poured all your best and most original ideas into those first two. As he says, he swears this album will be the last one, but it probably won't, because he's too deeply invested at this point… "I was looking for a way out, now I can't escape". What really clinches this interpretation for me is the video. He goes from a sinister vampire controlling the actions of a mindless crowd to transforming into a simple singer-songwriter playing his guitar as the sun rises. To me this proves that the song is about the conflict between these two sides of his persona and professional life. He is great at both, but ultimately being a crowd pleaser pays far more than the more soulful stuff he prefers doing.

  2. I’m just glad he won in court. Nothing against MG. No one can copyright the color blue. (Or a standard chord progression). I would love to see what Olivia Harrison has to say about that.

  4. lyrics
    One, two, three, four
    Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Every time you come around, you know I can't say no
Every time the sun goes down, I let you take control
I can feel the paradise before my world implodes
    And tonight had something wonderful

My bad habits lead to late nights endin' alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearin' this will be the last, but it probably won't
I got nothin' left to lose, or use, or do

My bad habits lead to wide eyes stare into space
And I know I'll lose control of the things that I say
Yeah, I was lookin' for a way out, now I can't escape
Nothin' happens after two, it's true
It's true, my bad habits lead to you

    Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
    Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you

Every pure intention ends when the good times start

Fallin' over everything to reach the first time's spark
It started under neon lights, and then it all got dark
I only know how to go too far

My bad habits lead to late nights endin' alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearin' this will be the last, but it probably won't
I got nothin' left to lose, or use, or do

  5. 2:24 Ed Sheeran singlehandedly stops a speeding car being driven by… HIMSELF???

P.S. This song holds special meaning for me because of its association with one of my colleagues who had a large influence on my working life and eventually became my friend
